Musician & Educator

Emma Germann is a musician and educator in the Chicagoland area. A graduate of Elmhurst University, Emma earned her degree in Music Education, along with a minor in Jazz Studies and a Classical Saxophone Performance Certificate.

Emma works with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra as the Assistant Director for the Debut Orchestra, Assistant Band Director and Jazz II Director in Lemont-Bromberek SD113A, and head woodwind instuctor for the Lemont High School Marching Band. Emma maintains a studio of middle and high school woodwind students, including Glenbard District 87, Elmhurst District 205, Lemont Districts 113A and 210, and Schaumburg District 54. As a Golden Apple Scholar, Emma is dedicated to providing equitable access to high-quality music education to student musicians of diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. She is the youngest member of the Educational Partnerships and Community Engagement committee for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and has taught music abroad in both Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cape Town, South Africa. Highlights from Emma’s work as a freelance performer include performances with the Naperville Winds, DuPage Symphony Orchestra, Wheaton Municipal Band, Pete Ellman Big Band, Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and more. She made her debut at Orchestra Hall in the spring of 2024 and made her Carnegie Hall debut in the summer of 2025.

New for the ‘25-’26 school year:

Woodwind Masterclasses

As a band director, Emma understands how hard it is for a director to give each section in the ensemble the instrument-specific pedagogy they need. If you're a brass or percussionist, maybe you don't feel as confident in your woodwind technique and you'd like an expert to set your students up for success. With an understanding of the constraints of a program's budget, Emma is offering a sliding scale for pricing based on what your budget allows.

Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.
